Finished Week One
I am actually halfway through my second week, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. The first week was awesome. When I wrote my program, I was hoping for a 315lb 1RM on my conventional deadlift. When deadlift day came, I decided to set the goal for 325lbs. The first time I tried, the bar barely left the ground. I grabbed a belt and attacked the bar, again it barely left the ground. Then my favorite song came on, I took off the belt gave myself a little break and then said a few inappropriate things to the bar, stepped up, got tight and got the lift.
One of my biggest strengths is my ability to NOT give up. I have not tested my 1RM in the conventional deadlift, so I honestly had no idea how much I could lift. Even after failing two times I still attacked the bar as if it was my first time, the same tightness and confidence.
My chin ups are always one of my favorite exercises, even though I didn't have time to finish the whole workout, I still got in my chin ups. I did two singles with 70lbs on the weight belt.
The week also left me a lot of time hanging off the bar. I have been having so much just playing on the bar. I came up with a sort of dance/strength thing that challenges me physically while allowing me to just enjoy myself. This is the key to workout success. Having fun and letting the music set the tempo can make a good workout amazing.
